Course content
The aim of the course is to introduce the field in its broader sense, i.e. the issues of migrants, minorities, addictive behavior, but also emotional disorders and CAN syndrome.

The aim of the subject is to introduce the field in its broader concept, i.e. the issue of migrants, minorities, addictive behavior, but also emotional disorders and CAN syndromes. Topics: - Refugee issues, children of foreigners in Czech schools. Social disadvantage, social exclusion, causes, prevention, manifestations, intervention programs. - The specifics of the Roma family in the past, in the present, the Roma pupil. - Persons endangered by the environment - historical and socio-cultural context. - Psychological deprivation - causes, manifestations, consequences. Basic psychological needs, psychological deprivation and resilience. - CAN syndrome - abuse, sexual abuse, neglect - causes, manifestations, diagnosis, options for intervention, protection and prevention. - Emotional disorders - e.g. separation anxiety, school phobia, specifics of a child with an emotional disorder in the conditions of school and school facilities. - Disharmonic personality development and psychotic development in childhood - specifics of work in the conditions of school and school facilities. - Non-alcoholic drugs, distribution, addiction and development of addiction, user care system. Specifics for children under 15 years of age. - Alcohol and tobacco, addiction and the development of addiction, user care system, research and trends, legislation in relation to children and youth. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to: Demonstrate an understanding of the field in its broader perspective, including issues related to migrants, minorities, addictive behaviour, emotional disorders, and the CAN syndrome within educational and social contexts. Analyse the issue of refugees and the education of children with a migrant background in Czech schools, distinguishing between social disadvantage and social exclusion, and identifying their causes, manifestations, prevention strategies, and intervention programmes. Describe the specific characteristics of Roma families and Roma pupils in both historical and contemporary contexts and assess their impact on the educational process. Explain the influence of the environment on individual development, particularly in persons at risk, with respect to historical and sociocultural factors. Characterise psychological deprivation, including its causes, manifestations, and consequences, and explain basic psychological needs, as well as the relationship between deprivation and resilience. Identify forms of the CAN syndrome (child abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect), describe their causes and manifestations, and demonstrate basic knowledge of diagnosis, intervention options, protection, and prevention. Differentiate selected emotional disorders in childhood, such as separation anxiety and school phobia, and evaluate the specific needs of children with emotional disorders in school and educational settings. Describe disharmonious personality development and psychotic development in childhood and apply basic principles of educational work in school and institutional settings. Demonstrate knowledge of illicit (non-alcohol) drugs, explain the development of addiction, identify the system of care for users, and recognise specific aspects of work with children under 15 years of age. Analyse alcohol and tobacco use among children and adolescents, including addiction development, care systems, research findings, current trends, and the legal framework relating to minors.
