Course content
Teaching theses: - Phonation disorders. Pathology of human voice production from the perspective of comprehensive speech therapy intervention. The specific role of speech therapists in the prevention of voice disorders at all levels - synthesis of knowledge from propaedeutic and related disciplines. Application of historically based and current scientific and research findings. Profiling personalities and literature. - Special speech therapy diagnostics and differential diagnostics of voice disorders. Audiovisual detection of predromal, acute, and chronic symptoms of voice disorders. Use of recording techniques and analysis of recordings. Interdisciplinary cooperation. Application of historically based and current scientific research findings. Profiling personalities and literature. - Specifics of the speech therapist's intervention and therapeutic approach to voice disorders from a developmental perspective - specific peculiarities of the preverbal and verbal periods, deviations in the speech therapy approach to people with voice disorders in early childhood, preschool, school, adolescence, and old age. Application of historically based and current scientific research findings. Profiling personalities and literature. - Impairment of oral speech sound in terms of resonance, velopharyngeal insufficiency. Etiological and symptomatic connections between oral speech resonance disorders and velopharyngeal insufficiency. Application of historically based and current scientific research findings. Profiling personalities and literature. - Orofacial clefts and their consequences in terms of primary and secondary symptomatology. Specifics of speech-language pathology diagnosis and intervention in the field of orofacial clefts, including the prevention of secondary or tertiary consequences. Articulation diagnostic therapy and phonological approaches in the intervention of palatalization. Application of historically based and current scientific research findings. Profiling personalities and literature. - Impairment of oral speech articulation - dyslalia and related forms of communication impairment without organic etiological basis. Etiological and symptomatic connections, modern approaches to the differentiation of motor and phonologically based forms of speech articulation disorders - oral dyspraxia or speech apraxia, phonetic-phonological disorders, and others. Application of historically based and current scientific research findings. Profiling personalities and literature. - Oral speech articulation disorders - dyslalia and related forms of communication disorders, a critical view of selected historically and currently based approaches to the diagnosis and intervention of dyslalia. Application of historically based and current scientific research findings. Profiling personalities and literature. - Impairment of oral speech articulation due to organic damage to the CNS - dysarthria and related forms of communication impairment. Etiological and symptomatological connections. Application of historically based and current scientific research findings. Profiling personalities and literature. - Modern approaches to diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and intervention in oral speech articulation disorders based on organic damage to the central nervous system. Comprehensive, direct, and indirect approaches. Interdisciplinary cooperation. Application of historically based and current scientific research findings. Profiling personalities and literature. - Speech fluency disorders. Etiological and symptomatic connections.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with specific areas of basic and supplementary topics related to impaired communication skills in all age groups. Emphasis is placed on the application of domestic and foreign theoretical knowledge, supplemented by the proven results of practical activities of speech therapists and other professionals involved in the comprehensive intervention of impaired communication skills. The congruence of the areas of terminology, classification, etiology, symptomatology, diagnostics, speech therapy intervention (therapy), prevention, and prognosis is respected. This is a more detailed and comprehensive insight into the issue, deepening and expanding the knowledge gained in lower years of study.
After completing the course, students will be able to: - gain in-depth knowledge of specific areas of impaired communication skills in all age groups - apply theoretical knowledge to the practical activities of speech therapists and other professionals involved in the comprehensive intervention of impaired communication skills - view the issues learned in previous years of study in detail and comprehensively
