Learning outcomes
|
The course is focused on issues of approach, communication, interaction, and the specific characteristics of adult persons with disabilities in productive and post-productive age. Special educational, social, and rehabilitation interventions for this target group have specific features and require an appropriate level of professional preparedness of those who provide such interventions. The course builds on knowledge, skills, and competences acquired in other study disciplines, in particular in special education, psychology, and pedagogy/didactics, with an emphasis on the issue of human needs of adults with disabilities and persons with limitations resulting from age and ageing, including individuals in the terminal stage. The course introduces students to knowledge from special educational, health-related, and social fields, which, in their purposeful and functional interconnection, create a professional basis for the application of a highly professional approach and comprehensive work of a special education andragogue. The course Special Educational Andragogy 1 establishes the basic theoretical foundations of the discipline, familiarises students with the fundamental concepts applied in this field, defines the framework of interdisciplinary and intersubject relations, and specifies the concept of adulthood and old age, including functional and dysfunctional needs, so that these foundations can be effectively built upon in subsequent parts of the study programme.
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: - define the scope and basic concepts of special educational andragogy, - characterise the specific features of adulthood and old age in relation to disability, - identify and analyse the needs of adults with disabilities, with particular attention to dysfunctional needs, - describe the principles of special educational, social, and rehabilitation interventions for adult clients, - apply an interdisciplinary approach when addressing model situations, - reflect on the ethical and professional aspects of working with adults with disabilities.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written exam
A prerequisite for successful completion of the course is the student's active participation in classes, including regular attendance, engagement in discussions, and fulfilment of ongoing study obligations arising from the organisation of the course. The student is required to: - complete the prescribed minimum attendance in accordance with the faculty study regulations, actively participate in classes, in particular in professional discussions and work with case situations, - prepare continuously for classes by studying the recommended literature, - demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts, theoretical foundations, and principles of special educational andragogy, - successfully pass a written test (or written examination) focused on understanding and application of the covered subject matter.
