Course content
1. Efficient communication. Feedback in the communication process. Conducting an interview. Active listening. Verbal inputs in conversation. 2. Barriers in communication. Influence of social perception on communication. 3. Conflicts and their solutions. Transactional analysis. 4. Principles of assertive behaviour. Use of assertiveness in the prevention of burnout syndrome. Practice of assertive behaviour. 5. Interview with clients of different age groups. Communication with children and with elderly. 6. Art to lead interviews with clients with disabilities (visual, hearing, mental etc.) and clients with limitations of movement. 7. Crisis communication - principles of crisis intervention, dealing with the client in the phase of shock, calming aggressive client, appropriate and inappropriate statements in crisis communication. 8. Crisis intervention in children and their families, crisis intervention in adolescents, crisis intervention in the elderly. 9. Crisis management and assistance in mass disasters. 10. Interview with anxiety client, depressed client, client with acute stress response, client in a situation of close family death - the principle of counselling for survivors. 11. Ethics of communication. Calling. 12. Communication with the media, role of spokesperson, methods of defence when attacked by media.

Learning outcomes
This subject is conceived as a theoretical and practical unit. It forms the basis of professional knowledge and skills in establishing contact and gaining client / patient confidence and for further effective and quality care for his/her individual needs. It will deepen students' knowledge of the principles and skills of adequate communication with clients, their families, co-workers and institutions. The main emphasis is put on practical exercises.
Students will get the basics for communication at different levels of social relations. S/he will acquire the basics of professional performance and behaviour. S/he understands the verbal and nonverbal expressions of clients and their relatives and can lead an interview with them. S/he is able to respond to them on a professional level. S/he is able to respond effectively to a crisis situation, is able to calm the patient / client in a crisis situation, can interview the child, senior, anxious, aggressive, depressed patient / client, is able to adequately talk to the dying patient and provide family advice to the survivors. S/he can communicate effectively with the media and knows how to protect against media attacks.

Oral exam, Student performance, Analysis of linguistic, Analysis of Activities ( Technical works)

Oral examination in groups at the end of the semester. Development of independent work and its presentation in the classroom.
