Course content
|
Public health - importance in the organization and management of health care. Public economy, public finance. Best practices in public health. Management of rural practice. Economics and financing of healthcare in the Czech Republic. Management of selected medical facilities with public funds, financial statements. Management of selected medical facilities with public funds and their control, reimbursement decree. Short-term (health insurance, DPN) and long-term health disorder (assessment of health status for the purposes of disability, non-insurance system of social security benefits. Quality and safety of health care with emphasis on their evaluation. International humanitarian law and healthcare. Healthcare system in the Czech Republic, organizational structure of health care providers, health and social insurance systems, reimbursement decree, control activities. Healthcare policy. Final discussion with emphasis on the use of information obtained in clinical practice. Credit test.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to explain to students the importance of public health for the work of a physician, an integral part of which is healthcare policy and the principles and strategies of the management of healthcare and health care in the Czech Republic. Students will learn about healthcare systems with an emphasis on the healthcare system in the Czech Republic, the provision of health care, types of healthcare facilities, management in health care, economics and financing of health care, health care reimbursements, they will get an overview of health and social insurance in the Czech Republic, basic health legislation and international humanitarian law and healthcare, assessment of short-term and long-term health disorders, basic rules of quality and safety in healthcare.
The student will be able to understand basic principles of creating health care policy, will be able to orientate himself in financing of separate types of health care systems and in state run organizations as well as in non state organizations. He will be able to solve problems connected with judging the patients health status and will be able to orientate himself in the problems that can happen with various selected groups of inhabitants.
