Course content
Epidemiology pat is focused on epidemiological characteristics of both infectious and non-infectious diseases and their prevention possibilities. Lectures include epidemiology of chosen infectious diseases with surveillance and actual epidemiological situation in Czech republic and the Wolrd. In the field of non-communicable diseases, lectures focus on serious diseases of mass occurrence. In fiedl of social medicine lectues deal with valid healthcare legislation in Czech Republic.

Learning outcomes
The subject consists of two parts that form an integral part of the state rigorous exam. A student will deepen his knowledge of general and special epidemiology. The student will be introduced to tasks and activities of the hygiene service in solving current public health problems and the role of the general practitioner in disease prevention. The second part of the course will focus on the organization of the healthcare system and its financing in the Czech Republic.
After completing the course, the student has knowledge of the epidemiology of infectious and non-infectious diseases and their prevention possibilities. The student will be able to apply basic health standards in practice. The student will gain an overview of current health legislation for the health care provision in the Czech Republic.

Basic knowledge of epidemiological methodology and EBM.
