Course content
The theoretical part covers the fundamentals of computing and data handling. Types of software files and their use: basic types of applications for data processing and analysis. Clinical information systems: applications for data management in healthcare facilities. Text processing: work with data, data processing, data analysis. Presentation of data: data layout, principles of data presentation. Statistical analysis: basic methods of descriptive statistics. Search in professional electronic databases: an electronic database, medical database systems, data retrieval. In the practical part, students learn how to operate computers and use programs and information systems, focusing on his professional experience. MS Windows operating system, work in a computer network, basic operations with files, spreadsheets, database systems, medical, electronic mail, Internet.

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as a theoretical-practical course and provides information about software files and the possibilities of their use. Furthermore, the subject focuses on clinical information systems, professional text processing, data presentation, statistical analysis of presented data and online searching in professional databases. The theoretical part includes the basics of computer technology and working with data. Types of software files and their use: basic types of applications for data processing and analysis. Clinical information systems: applications for data management in healthcare facilities. Text processing: working with data, data processing, data analysis. Presentation of data: graphic editing of data, principles of data presentation. Statistical analyses: basic methods of descriptive statistics. Searching in professional electronic databases: electronic databases, medical database systems, data retrieval. In the practical part, the student will learn to control computer technology and use programs and information systems focused on his professional practice. MS WINDOWS operating system, work in a computer network, basic operations with files, table editors, medical database systems, e-mail, Internet.
The student will gain the ability to orient oneself in basic applied software, use common programs for editing, data processing and communication.
