Course content
"Breathing disorders in the new-born, Transient tachypnoea of ??the new-born. The syndrome of aspiration of meconium. Fundamentals of artificial pulmonary ventilation, oxygen therapy - asphyxia, hypoxia of the new-born - Resuscitation of the newb-or. Resuscitation of the premature new-born. Resuscitation in selected diagnoses- Therapeutic hypothermia. - New-born birth traumatism - classification of the most common birth traumas. New-born pain, assessment of pain in new-born. Paresa of the armhole. - Foetal and neonatal infections - adenocarcinoma and late infant infections, septic states. Hyperbilirubinemia in neonatal age - physiological jaundice of new-borns, haemolytic disease of neonates, concept of neonatal treatment with unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia, exchange and intrauterine transfusion. Neurological issues of the new-born, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, intracranial haemorrhage, posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus, meningitis and encephalitis, neonatal convulsions. - Haematology, bleeding new-born disease, anaemia. - Cardiopulmonary renal disorders, persistent ductus arteriosus. Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the New-born - Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome. - Congenital developmental defects - CNS, respiratory system, heart, digestive tract, and urinary tract defects. Surgical diseases of the new-born. Intolerance diet-gastric residue. Hygiene care, risk assessment of skin damage, barrier nursing care for immature new-borns. Indications and procedures of oxygen therapy, artificial ventilation.

Learning outcomes
The course is focused on the highly specialized nursing care provided by a midwife to a high-risk and pathological new-born with specific needs.
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to provide a highly specialized care to a high-risk and pathological new-born with specific needs.
