The main topics of the subject: legislative framework related to medical documentation; Content, form and management of medical documentation; Types of records in a healthcare facility and access to medical records; Informed consent and related issues; Documentation in midwifery and its effective management; Storing medical documentation.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to familiarize the students with the basic concept of medical documentation, to emphasise its legal character, the legal obligations for keeping medical documentation. The content, way of writing and making correction in documentation, forms of documentation, storage and rights of access to patient documentation. The main task of this discipline is to teach students how to work with the nursing documentation which is a part of medical documentation.
Students receive information concerning the nursing documentation in the fields of gynaecology and obstetrics.

Prerequisites

The student will be familiar with the issue of the care process in midwifery.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance
Active participation in seminars. Student will demonstrate understanding documentation in the obstetrics-gynecology department, neonatology department and department of paediatrics.
