Course content
|
Newborn, basic terms. Physiology of the process of transition of newborn at birth and perinatal hypoxia. Resuscitation guidelines. General care at birth, airway management, ventilation, circulation, drugs. Stabilization and specifics of resuscitaion in preterm babies at birth. Post-resuscitation care. Therapeutic hypothermia. Prognostication. Communication. Equipment for neonatal resuscitation. Demonstrations and practical skills training on resuscitation mannequin. Clinical simulation on mannequin. Practical test - airway management and ventilation.

Learning outcomes
|
The course is designed for students of General Medicine study program with a focus on pediatrics, obstetrics and emergency medicine. The aim is to provide the theoretical foundations and practical skills in neonatal resuscitation.
Understanding the physiology of transition of newborn at birth and perinatal hypoxia. Mastering practical skills and their correct inclusion in the process of neonatal resuscitation at birth.
