Course content
Menopause, hormone replacement therapy. Gynaecological oncology. Contraception. High risk pregnancy. Bleeding disturbances. Urogynaecology. Infertility. Bleeding in early pregnancy.

Learning outcomes
The course is based on practical training. Students will participate under guidance in Labour ward, Gynaecological ward, Out-patient clinics and Operating theatre. The student will be informed about ethical issues regarding the care of obstetric and gynecological patients. The course is based on the following clinical situations: Normal pregnancy and common pregnancy complications, hypertensive disorders in pregnancy, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, tromboembolic complications in pregnancy, fetal diagnosis with ultrasound, the use of ultrasound in clinical gynecology and obstetrics, miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy therapeutic abortion, ethical issues, normal labour, common complications during labour, the normal and complicated puerperium, reproductive medicine including infertility and contraception, gynecological infections including sexually transmitted diseases, menstrual disorders in the adolescent and fertile period, benign and malignant gynecological tumors abdominal pain, urinary incontinence, climacteric and postmenopausal problems.
The student should be able to perform: to take a relevant patient history, a physical gynecological and obstetric examination, admission and discharge of the patient, medical treatment. Student has a practical knowledge spontaneous delivery and to deliver the baby, a care of patient in puerperium. The student theoretically knows how to deal with emergencies in obstetrics. He/she is able to judge the size, consistence and possible tenderness of the non- pregnant uterus and the ovaries, knows the principles of treatment in oncogynecology, reproductive medicine, urogynecology, climacterium and senium. The student theoretically knows how to deal with emergencies in gynecology. They know the basic in operative treatment in obstetrics and gynecology.

Students are obliged to meet study demands of PGY/VC011 and PGY/VCBP1 od PGY/VCBP2

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

After completion of the course the student should be able to identify patients with conditions/problems related to certain defined clinical situations. For each of these specified clinical situations the student should be able to describe and explain: pathophysiological mechanisms of the most frequent diseases, their prevention and therapy, important differential diagnoses, patient care. The integral part of the course is also communication with patient and her family.
