Course content
Course consists of four blocks (4 hours each): I. block: - Complete the subject - A reference to literature and Internet resources - Types of questionnaires and test methods - Official resources of methods (purchasing, distribution, copying, licensing) - Content validity (what we want to measure) - Ways of asking questions, the adequacy with regard to target groups - Filling strategies of participants, estimates etc. - Basic socio-demographic data - Types of questions, scales, examples - Sequence, consistency, length of the questionnaire II. block: - Graphic design, layout - The most common errors and mistakes - Preparation for evaluation, quality of data - Informed consent, cover letter, ethics III. block: - Realisation of the survey from A to Z - Schedule - Contacting participants and institutions - Increasing number of returned questionnaires - Time estimates of batteries and other field experience - Standardization of methods - Creation of standardisation sample nad norms - Transfer of foreign methods, translations - Statistical methods for assessing reliability and validity IV. block: - Internet research (its validity, advantages and disadvantages, differences from the classic collection, specific target groups, technical solutions, collaboration with the programmer, examples) - Relation to statistical data processing - The choice of methods of statistical processing - Presentation of results in graphs and tables - Answers to specific questions - Addressing specific topics on demand of students

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook), Demonstration, Projection (static, dynamic)

Learning outcomes
In this course the PhD students learn the main principles and recommendations for the creation of questionnaires (especially those designed by themselfs), i.e. the manner of questioning with regard to target populations, specific examples of different types of scales, capabilities and limitations of using an online survey, the formulation of a cover letter, etc. We also discuss the issue of transfer of foreign methods, combining standardized methods in research (test batteries), standardization etc. Using practical examples we connect knowledge of psychometrics, methodology and psychological diagnostics.
Students acquire or deepen their skills in the creation and administration of questionnaires of their own design (including online versions). They will learn some basic recommendation for processing data obtained during a survey. Students should develope the ability of progressive improvement and refinement of their method to reach maximum level of validity and reliability.
Prerequisites
Students must be enrolled in a doctoral program in the social sciences (humanities).

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Seminar Work

Each student must create (desing) hir/her own questionnaire regarding to presented recommendation and information. Topic (content) of the questionnaire is optional, however it is recommended that it should apply to specific research objectives of disertation thesis.
