This is a practical and theoretical subject focusing on providing palliative care in heath care facilities, hospices as well as in home environment. It present new services and types of facilities which belong among follow-up care facilities and which provide individual nursing care for the terminally ill and the dying. It also introduces students to the specifics of pediatric palliative care. It puts emphasis on understanding the concept of hospice care providing the terminally ill in the end-of-life phase dignified dying, reconciliation and a peaceful departure. It also focuses on activities to support the close relatives in stages of bereavement.
