Course content
|
Education of general nurses in the Czech Republic and worldwide, Basics of general pedagogy. Curriculum, syllabus, thematic plan, interdisciplinary relations. Basics of general didactics. Didactic principles. Educational methods, objectives and their taxonomies. Didactics of clinical practice in nursing. Mentor and his/her personality, typology of teachers, self-improvement and professionalism development. Motivation of students in the field of nursing. Educational methods and organizational forms of education in nursing. Significance and forms of evaluation in teacher's /mentor's work. Methodology of supervising nursing practice, pedagogical documentation of the mentor. Evaluation of students on a clinical workplace - progressive and final.

Learning outcomes
|
The course presents students with the knowledge of pedagogy and general didactics necessary for the work of a mentor of clinical nursing practice. Students are acquainted with the system of professional training of general nurses in the Czech Republic, with their futher educational possibilities and legislative regulations. It also familiarizes with the profile of a graduate and the creation of the nursing study program, students´competencies and their achievements in practice. The course is designed both as theoretical and practical basis of general didactics and nursing care didactics. Practical training and the application of knowledge in the work of a mentor, i.e the teacher of nursing in a clinical practice, is also part of the course.
Students will be acquianted with the education of health care as a system; they will be able to identify the characteristics of its particular elements and the system itself as an open systém. Students will be acquainted with the structure and function of educational institutions as an organization. Students will be able to carry out a pedagogical practice in the conditions of clinical nursing care. Students will know the particularities of practice leading by a mentor for the discipline of a general nurse.
