Course content
Students are specified in detail both theoretically and practically acquainted with the specifics of the activities of an optometrist in the refractive surgery centers, including the specific investigative procedures. Lecutres provides theoretical and practical preparation to the realisation of the practical tutorial. Lectures Equipment and organisation of the refractive workplace, the role of the optometrist in the team of the refractive surgery center. Eye examination before the refractive surgery with the regard to the competencies of optometrist. The specifies of the refraction examination before the refractive surgery. The examination after the surgery, the role of monitoring. Tutorial: Analysis of the specific casuistries including complications. The role of an optometrist is discussed. The excursion at the top refractive surgery clinic with the modern measuring, diagnostics and surgery equipment is realised in the framework of the tutorial. The excursion includes practical demonstrations of relevant examinations. Students realise the selected measurements (especially aberrometry, cristaline lens densitometry, topoghraphy of the anterior and posterior cornea surface). The education is realised in cooperation with the external experts with the extend theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
