Course content
Fundamental laboratory methods of organic chemistry for synthesis (heating, stirring, cooling, introduction of gases, working with decreased pressure, drying) and separation of organic compounds (filtering, crystallization, distillation, extraction). The methods are trained at the compounds synthesis of important types of organic reactions. The products are characterized by melting point, thin-layer chromathography and infra-red spectroscopy. 1. Methane, ethene, ethyne, benzene (?) preparation and evidence 2. Preparation of benzoine a Hantzch synthesis of dihydropyridine and its oxidation 3. Preparation of ethyl acetate and 2-chlorbenzoic acid 4. Destilation of ethyl acetate, crystalization of 2-chlorbenzoic acid. Orange II 5. Preparation of 3-nitrophtalic acid, evidence reactions of alcoholes 6. Preparation of anthranilic acid 7. Preparation of luminol and hymecromone. Luminiscent chemical experiments. 8. Preparation of benzoic acid 9. Preparation of cellulose trinitrate and cyklopentanone 10. Reduction of cyclopentanone. 11. Izolation of eugenol 12. Laboratory preparation of Nylon, acylpyrine and biodiesel.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

Conditions for getting the credit: 100% attendance during term. In case of illness or different serious reasons, it is possible to excuse the absence in laboratory practice on basis of official confirmation. It is duty to get information about student absence to teacher in advance. On each laboratory practice, the students are checked up for their readiness. If the student do not fulfil criteria, it is possible to have only one extra laboratory practice. In final laboratory practice the students do final writing test. It is important to reach at least 75% of good answered questions. If not only one extra attempt will be given for the correction.
