Course content
|
The lectures continue the course in the winter semester. Based on Lessons 3 (Enlightenment), 4 (Romance), 5 (Naturalism) and 6 (Modernism) of the textbook by J. Gera and A. Sneller, Inleiding literatuurgeschiedenis voor de internationale neerlandistiek we wil go through these periods. More attention is paid to the writers Betje Wolff and Aagje Deken, Hendrik Conscience and Trui Bosboom-Toussaint, Cyriel Buysse and Louis Couperus, Carry van der Bruggen and Jan H. Leopold.

Learning outcomes
|
In the summer semester, students will improve their knowledge of the development of Dutch and Flemish literature in the 18th and 19th centuries. Due attention is also paid to cultural and social developments, as recorded in Europe.
Deeper knowledge of the history of Dutch and Flemish literature during the 18th and 19th centuries. Extending the knowledge of literary terminology and the ability to analyze literary texts.

Prerequisites
|
Passing of the previous course niz / 2ltr1. Knowledge of Dutch at level B1 to B2 of CEFR. Presence in the lessons, maximum absence twice per semester.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance
Attendance in the lessons (maximum absence twice per semester) Completing homework. Reading at least 5 books in Dutch during the semester and delivery of readers' diaries. Seminar work.
