Course content
Selected clinical cases of the most common bacterial infections in the community - respiratory and urinary tract infections. Selected case reports of the most common bacterial infections in the hospital - pneumonia, bloodstream infections and sepsis, urinary tract infections and surgical wound infections.

Learning outcomes
The aim is to introduce students to the principles of adequate antibiotic therapy of the most common bacterial infections in the hospital and community. The principles of identification of the cause of infection and selection of the most appropriate therapy will be presented, including the potential consequences of inadequate therapeutic approach.
The students will be able to make decisions about the optimal therapeutic approach to the most common bacterial infections in hospital and community patients.
Prerequisites
Successful completion of Microbiology 2 and Pharmacology I.
MIK/VAA12 and FAR/VAB11

Written exam

Passing a written test.
