Course content
Student will get key word corresponding with the topic. Based on the key words, students will find a study recent research articles (max. 5 years old). The topic will ne discussed , so the students and lecturer will discuss the information (based on their previous homework study) about the topic. Next week, the lecturer will have a talk about the topic. For a good contribution to the discussion, the student will get one point. There will be five discussion meetings. Selected topics 1) Influence of light on ability of plants to tolerate cold stress 2) Light and plant sensitivity to drought 3) Influence of light on plant sensitivity to salinity 4) Light and plant tolerance to osmotic stress

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook)
  • Homework for Teaching - 2 hours per semester
  • Attendace - 12 hours per semester
  • Preparation for the Exam - 60 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
To introduce students with Seznámit studenty with little known issues of the influence of light signal on plant tolerance to abiotic stress.
Student should be able to (after attending the course): 1) To explain some mechanisms of light influence on the ability of plants to withstand cold stress 2) To discuss knowledge about influence of light on plant sensitivity to drought 3) To clarify effect of light on plant sensitivity to salinity 4) To explain possible principles of light influence on plant tolerance to osmotic stress
Prerequisites
Essential knowledge from molecular biology and physiology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Systematic Observation of Student

Exam. Student will have to study current scientific literature, which will be discussed with lecturer before each lecture. Knowledge of English.
