Course content
587/5000 Topics: Basic concepts of new media. Internet as medium, dynamic media content. Semantic Web. Interactivity and multimediality. Linear text vs. hypertext, hypermedia. Cyberspace and cyberculture, netart. Aesthetic aspects of new media products. Removing traditional media. Literary creation in the internet network, creativity on social networks. Collaborative and experimental literature, weblog, wiki, typographic experiments. E-literacy, critical thinking as part of e-literacy. Internet journalism. Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence in Language Education.

Learning outcomes
The discipline focuses on enhancing e-literacy and media literacy in the field of ICT and the resulting need for media education at elementary school within the RVP. Students will learn to work with nonlinear texts in the ICT environment, get acquainted with literary creation in cyberspace, cyberbullying aspects, learn to critically evaluate ICT resources, learn to use state-of-the-art e-learning tools for mother tongue education and media education (3D virtual environment, Artificial Intelligence). After completing the course students should be able to: Define the basic concepts of new media, cyberculture; to analyze the possibility of basic use of new media issues in mother tongue education and in inter-subject relations; to clarify the nature of the difference between work with linear printed texts and electronic hypertexts; categorize and classify individual areas of cyberculture; Assess and critically evaluate information resources on the Internet; apply methods of developing e-literacy in mother tongue teaching; to clarify the principles of an Internet journalist; Design optimized e-learning tools for mother tongue teaching; apply knowledge from the field of cyberculture and cyberbullying to mother tongue education.

Prerequisites
For participation in seminars is needed at least standard ICT level (ECDL) skills and English language skills minimally at B2 SERR level.

Course Completion Requirement: The student will create a blog related to Czech language teaching using a variety of multimedia elements. The exact criteria for creating a blog will be specified in the seminar of this course. In addition, the student will complete partial assignments throughout the semester.
