Course content
The theoretical part of the discipline: First Historical roots of textiles, art primitive peoples. Second The symbolic role of ornament. 3rd Coptic textiles, development, motivika and technology. 4th Tapestry of Bayeux and other medieval embroidery. 5th Development of tapestries from the Middle Ages to the 19th cent. 6th The transformation of tapestries in the 2nd half of the 20th century. The practical part of the discipline: To acquaint students with the basic technological processes of working with fibers in relation to these techniques lead to a creative work with traditional and new materials using traditional techniques and experiment. Emphasis is placed on the fiber and its expression options . Textile output is a miniature or a series of works focused on the area and relief. The thesis focuses on exploring the sensory and symbolic possibilities of textiles.

Learning outcomes
The theoretical part of the discipline is to present important stage in the development of fabrics from prehistoric times to the present, with special emphasis on the tapestry. Meet with fundamental changes in the concept of the second half of the 20th century tapestries and prominent personalities of textile art in the world and with us.The practical part is to prepare the basics of mastering the craft of working with fiber and understanding of specific expressive possibilities of selected textile techniques and follow them lead to creative work with traditional and new materials using traditional techniques and experiment.
Students should be eligible to practice mastery of craft in selected traditional textile techniques and creative approach to the textile fiber. Mastering the practices of traditional textile techniques and using the experiment should be able perception of expressive possibilities of specific fibers, the sensory qualities and a new approach to textiles as a basis for expressing content.
Prerequisites
A prerequisite is the focus of history in contemporary visual arts.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Oral exam, Analysis of Creative works (Music, Pictorial,Literary), Seminar Work

Practical work, its presentation; textual part to the practical work supported by image photo-documentation on CD. Seminar work, test. Participation in seminars 80%.
