Course content
1. Subject and sciential principles of art education pedagogy. Concept and objective of the contemporary art education at the first grade of primary school, contemporary trends in art education. 2. Frame educational programme, characterization of the educational field Art and culture, instructional content of the educational subject Art education. 3. Outstanding personalities in the history of drawing and art education especially in our lands. Evaluation of opinions about teaching the drawing and art education from the ancient era up to now. 4. Formation, development and attributes of children's creative expression (DVP). 5. Creative typology and its application in the pedagogic practice. 6. Specialities of the aesthetic perception and assessment at children (first grade of primary school) of younger school age. The role of psychological processes at creative activities. 7. Creativity in the art education. Phases of creative process, stages of children's creativity. Preventing DVP crises. Principles of the creative art education teaching. Diagnostic a therapeutic possibilities of creative activities, artephiletics and artetherapy. 8. Structure of basic and special types of art education lesson units. Planning and preparation of art education teaching. Project method in art education, art lines and their types. 9. Kinds and organization of creative activities in art education. Link between the objective, theme and task in art education teaching. Importance of motivation in art education. 10. Application of didactic principles and methods in art education. Forms and methods of communication with the artwork. Animation. 11. Questions of assessment in art education. Feedback importance. Classification. 12. Materials and techniques in art education at the first grade of primary school. Special-interest art education, DVP exhibitions. INSEA. Orientation to the RVP terminology, knowledge of basic publications for art education, magazines, etc.

Learning outcomes
The course objective is to provide students with basic orientation to questions of visual art pedagogy and art education teaching at the first grade of primary school considering specialities of the work with pupils having specific educational needs. Students get acquainted with the subject of art education didactics, with contemporary concept and targets of art education. They acquire the terminology of the Frame educational programme for primary education and educational content of the art education subject. Students are further provided with information on children's creative expression, creative typology as well as diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities of creative activities. They will be able to identify and conceive not only basic types of art education lesson units but also types of art lines and projects. The course also focuses on understanding the link between the objective, methods and assessment in art education and the specific relationship between the theme, subject matter and creative technique in teaching the art education.
Artistically mastered basic teaching skills useful in teaching art education at the 1st elementary school.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of educational terminology, interest in the field.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

Students will obtain the assessment after delivering the seminar work; the following themes can be chosen: 1. Research on the educational reality in the subject of art education - Student will submit a pre-arranged questionnaire to teachers in practice and process the obtained data into an overview frequency table. Results received through the questionnaire or pertinent discussions with teachers must be summarized in the form of short conclusion. The seminar work is a preparation for the diploma work (acquiring the basic methodological procedures of investigative research). 2. Analysis of the children's creative expression - Student will choose three child works (drawing, painting and some other random work) and analyse such concrete child's creative expression (attributes, developmental regularities, characteristic features, etc.) - It is recommended to analyse a depiction of human or animal figures. Note: Seminar works will also contain all formal belongings as the introductory page with heading and work title, list of the used literature, correct designation of eventual citations, language and graphic level, etc.
