Course content
1) Origin and evolution of religion. 2) Tribal religions. 3) Religion of Sumer and Mesopotamian religion. 4) Hinduism. Buddhism, Jainism. 5) Chinese religion. 6) Greek and Roman religion. 7) Religion of the Slavs, Celts and Germans. 8) Judaism. 9) Christianity (Eastern and Western). 10) Reformation. 11) Islam. 12) New Age

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook)
  • Attendace - 24 hours per semester
  • Preparation for the Exam - 50 hours per semester
  • Homework for Teaching - 8 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course focuses on an overview on world religions and their role in the contemporary world. After completing the course, students should be able to: " Define basic religionistic terms, " Clarify the historical background and cultural context in the early stages of forming religions, " Explain the essence of each religion, " Characterize typical individual signs and manifestations of religions, " Compare various conceptions of the history of religions, " Critically evaluates information given by today's media on various religions.
Understanding of the principles of hermeneutics.
Prerequisites
General overview on the philosophy and history of man.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

Class Attendance: 40%. Final Exam: 60%.
