Course content
Topics: Czech state in medieval Europe. Renaissance and Reformation and their consequences for Czech society. The Czech state as a part of the centralized Habsburg monarchy. Formation of the Czech national identity in the process of creating European nations in the 19th century. Totalitarianism of the 20th century and its impact on the development of Czechoslovakia. The Czech state in the European context at the beginning of the 21st century. "

Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to acquaint students - future teachers of citizenship education and social sciences - with selected key stages of European development in the context of their influence on the development in the Czech lands.
At the end of the course students should be able to: ""to clarify the contribution of key stages of European history to the synchronous development of Czech society and culture, ""to characterize the most important milestones of European history in relation to the Czech lands, ""assess the role of selected European personalities in the Czech context, ""analyze and evaluate the impact of key historical events on developments in the Czech lands."
