Course content
Ancient Greece and Rome. Caroline renaissance. The Middle Age and Christianity. Renaissance and Reformation. The Enlightenment. French revolution. National states and national identity. European colonialism. The First and Second World War in Europe. European totalitarian regimes in 20th Century. Cold War in Europe and desintegration of Eastern Bloc after the year 1989

Learning outcomes
Goal of subject is get to know student with the most important periods of European history with the aim to capture their relation to contemporary form of European society and culture. After the finishing will be students able to: - clarify relation of particular periods of European history to formation of contemporary Europe - characterize the most importatnt turning points of European history - considering the role of particular historical periods in European history - explain causes of European integration - analyse and evaluate the impact of historical events on the contemporary shape of Europe
Competences, which corresponding with extent of goals setting in this subject.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of general history in minimal extent of secondary school curriculum.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

Students form of self-acquainted with the recommended study literature and learning supports. The condition for granting the credit will develop presentations and seminar work, which will be affected by a chosen topic pertaining to the history of Europe from antiquity to the present, including its applicability in the curriculum of history, OV, ON and social science at the elementary and secondary schools.
