Course content
1) Territory of the Czech lands before the arrival of the Slavs, the Samo Empire and the Great Moravian Empire. 2) The Czech state in the 10th-12th centuries. 3) The Czech state under the last Premyslids. 4) The Czech state under the Luxembourgs. 5) The Hussite movement. 6) The Czech lands under George of Podebrady and the Jagellonians. 7) The Rise of the Habsburgs. 8) The Uprising of the Estates, the Thirty Years' War and the times after the Battle of the White Mountain. 9)The Czech lands under Enlightened Absolutism. 10 The Habsburg monarchy in the time of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars. 11) The Czech National Revival. 12) The revolutionary years of 1848 and 1849.

Learning outcomes
Understanding and interpretation of the core questions and issues of Czech political, economic and cultural history from the early phases of the Czech state up to modern times.Czech history is perceived in the context of both European and global history.
Interpretation of major events in Czech history in the period.
