Course content
The course will cover the following topics: 1. Social importance and history of volunteering in the Czech Republic and the EU 2. Legal aspects of volunteering, volunteer service law, types of volunteering 3. Motivation for volunteering, retention of volunteers, evaluation and appreciation of volunteers 4. Recruitment of volunteers, education and relationships between paid workers and volunteers 5. Volunteering in NGOs, social services and activities with children and youth 6. Role of the volunteer coordinator and its tasks, stages of volunteering 7. Evaluation of volunteer programs, value of volunteering 8. Volunteer service supervision and intervision 9. Professional and human formation of volunteers

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Training in job and motor Skils, Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to prepare students for future work with volunteers and to solve questions related to volunteer management within the non-profit sector. Students will understand the importance of volunteering from the social, economic and personal point of view and will learn to use methodology suitable for this activity with various target groups.
The student will acquire the ability to use the legislation of volunteering in the Czech Republic, compare it with the legislation in other EU countries, understand the importance of volunteer centers and acquire the ability to create rules for volunteer management in various types of NGOs. It will create its own volunteer projects, use existing volunteer work methodologies and create new ones according to the needs and intentions of the institutions.
Prerequisites
No special prerequisites are required for the course.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work, Written exam

The student will prepare a seminar paper and pass a written credit test, which will focus on demonstrating knowledge of legislation, international comparison, bases for management and designing volunteer programs.
