Course content
Topics: 1. Epistemiology - Scientific approach - Importance of methodology 2. Formulating the research problem and defining the field of research 3. Structure of research problem solving 4. Induction and deduction - fundamental approaches in educational research 5. Ethical principles in research 6. Dealing with information sources 7. Design of a scientific text 8. Project of a bachalor thesis 9. Structure of a bachalor thesis 10. Basic statistical methods for sport sciences research 11. Measurement techniques in surveying 12. Prezentation of a bachalor thesis

Learning outcomes
Throughout the course, the students will gain the knowledge and skills required to work with scientific papers. The course will enable students to understand the scientific approach to problem solving and understand the basic research methods.
A systematic approach to the search for and processing of scientific knowledge. Search in information databases. Organization of information sources, their citations and references using appropriate software. Writing a professional text. Designing an appropriate methodology for review work and empirical work based on the method of questioning. Formal arrangement of the final thesis at FTK UP in Olomouc.
Prerequisites
1. Basic knowledge of PC and internet search tools 2. Basic knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word programmes (or an adequate spreadsheet and text editor) 3. An own notebook is recommended, before lectures students can connect to Mobile network access (for instructions see "Portál -> Administrativa -> Návody a nápovědy -> Mobilní přístup na síť (síť eduroam), WiFi, LAN")

Assessment methods and criteria
Dialog, Seminar Work

Credit requirements: 1) Fulfillment of two mandatory tasks (classified; MOODLE); 2) Achieving 17 points (from compulsory and optional tasks); 3) The topic of the bachelor thesis is written in STAG. Detailed specification of partial tasks and conditions at the introductory lecture (together with the time schedule for completing the tasks).
