Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce the history of ancient Olympic Games and modern Olympic Games (restoration at the end of 19th century - Pierre de Coubertin, Olympic ideas, Olympic movement, International Olympic Committee - IOC, Olympic symbols and ceremonies, Olympic congresses, Czech Olympic movement - history and personalities, Czech Olympic Committee - COC, summer and winter Olympic games). Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
Upon completion of the course the student knows the history of ancient and modern Olympic Games from various perspectives (see Aims) and, based on this knowledge, is able to compare the present issues of Olympic movement.
