Course content
Course content: 1. Introductory lesson - content of the course and conditions of fulfillment. 2. Choice of thesis topic 3. Working with sources, types of sources, database of sources. 4. Thinking of the topic of thesis, cognitive map, formulation of research problem, research questions, goals of work + choice of method 5. Structure of empirical article, structure of bachelor thesis - model of work, essentials of diploma project 6. Writing strategy - logical structure of the text, argumentation, support of ethnographic examples, creative writing 7. Formal requirements of scientific text I. - how to correctly quote various sources, citation apparatus, list of literature, familiarization with various citation standards. 8. Formal requirements of scientific text II. - notes, attachments, graphs and tables, captions to the photographic attachment, dictionary of foreign terms, graphic standards and rules 9. How to write an essay, paper, research report, official letter 10. How to write annotations, abstracts, abstracts, keywords. 11. Discussion of the diploma project 12. Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
The seminar leads to mastering the basic methodological approaches of writing a professional text. Students will learn to create the text itself on the basis of working with various sources and data, to further elaborate bibliographic research and to meet the formal requirements of the thesis and the principles of publication ethics. Students will be acquainted with the basic structure of empirical essay and the essentials of elaboration of the thesis project. At the end of this course, students will be able to select and formulate a research topic, create a hypothesis and research questions, build a syllabus, elaborate a bibliographic research and actively apply the principles of ethics of scientific work.
Academic Writing - SUMMARY OF COMPETENCES 1. Acquisition of creative writing, training of professional style 2. Elaboration of research project 3. Formulation of topic, title of work 4. Structure of scientific text 5. Logical construction of text 6. Creation of outline, text models 7. Argumentation in scientific text 8. Search information in relevant sources and work polemically and in support of scientific literature in argumentation in the text 9. Ethics of professional work, including rules of citation, paraphrase 10. Mastering the relevant terminology, their definition, relevance 11. Formulation of research problem, goals and research questions, 12. Ability to write annotation, resume, keywords 13. Citation and quotation apparatus, citation standards 14. Spelling, stylistics, graphic standards 15. Editing 16. Literature and appendixes

Students are required to attend seminars, participate in discussions and study a given reading.

Conditions of exam: 1. Active participation in lessons - 75% attendance 2. Partial written tasks - abstract, resume 3. Submission of the thesis project 8-10 pages Exam - discussion of the thesis project. WHAT THE DIPLOMA WORK PROJECT MUST CONTAIN: - Head of department, name and surname, title of work (title +/- subtitle) - Project annotation (5-8 lines) + keywords - Formulation of the research problem, objectives and research questions (approx.? Pages) Why you have chosen a topic and how it is dealt with in current literature. - Briefly designed research methodology (approx.? Pages) - Preliminary outline of work - Work schedule (work proposal for 6 months) - List of literature (1 page)
