Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide theoretical background for Outdoor winter sojourn course 1. This particularly includes the theory of the following outdoor activities: downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, winter survival and orientation in terrain. The course includes one-day trips to the countryside. The whole subject is closely related to the preparation for outdoor education. The main content of the course is theoretical introduction of the history, technique, biomechanics, equipment, and modern trends in the development of specific types of physical activity. The acquired knowledge is used in outdoor practice to deliver leisure programmes. The content of the course is included in the exam from Theory of recreation in nature. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
Upon completion of the course the student: - Is knowledgeable about the history, appropriate technique, biomechanics and modern trends in the development of selected activities (downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, winter survival); - Is knowledgeable about the equipment and materials used in these activities; - Knows the theory of didactics and methodology of training the mentioned recreational activities; - Is able to eliminate health risks ensuing from recreational pursuit of these activities.
