Course content
1. Introduction of the history of cycling and history of the bicycle in an appropriate extent and depth. 2. Bicycle riding techniques in various types of terrain. 3. Selection, use and maintenance of cycling equipment and various types of bicycles. 4. Acquiring basic practical knowledge about the speed and physical requirements for cycling on the road, in a flat and hilly terrain and the implementation of the knowledge in the planning, organization and leading cycling programmes - planning daily routes, water intake, nutrition, energy requirements of various types of cycling activities. 5. Acquiring significant knowledge of recreation and sport cycling, organization and safety of group cycling under normal and decreased visibility. Knowledge of adhesion and braking distance. 6. Games for the development of technical skills. Application of cycling games and activities for personal and social development. 7. The bicycle as a part of artistic programmes, rope climbing activities, problem solving and strategic games. 8. Perception and enjoyment of the landscape. 9. Teaching cycling - children and adults. Bicycle from the perspective of biodromal psychology. Sport and recreation cycling activities for children and adults. 10. Relationship between ecology and cycling, code of an off-road cyclist. 11. Rules and possibilities of transporting bicycles by cars and public transport systems.

Learning outcomes
The main aim of the course is to offer the students an inspiring view of the bicycle as an interesting didactic means used in outdoor courses and practically introduce new trends in various recreation and sport types of modern cycling. The student will learn to perceive the bicycle as an interesting didactic means used in outdoor courses and practically learns new trends in various recreation and sport types of modern cycling. The student is motivated to acquire knowledge in this area as a part of lifelong learning. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
The student upon completion of the course: - can describe applying the bicycle as a didactic and educational means, - has a tank of games for the development of technical skills, cycling games and activities, - can use the acquired practical knowledge about speed, safety, physical requirements for cycling in various types of terrain and under various climatic conditions and use this knowledge for planning, organization and leading groups and cycling programmes.

According to relevant assignment: Preparation, delivery and evaluation of a recreation and leisure programme including the bicycle as a didactic means or teaching bicycle riding in the field or urban environment.
