Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to make the students contemplate about nature in ways other than through special natural sciences; to attempt to problematize the apparent obviousness of natural events. The course offers a view of nature from the perspective of most general concepts as seen in the history of philosophy and in philosophical thought constructs. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
Upon completion of the course the student: - Understands the difference between 'original' experience 'in the first person' and experience acquired through social, symbolical, conceptual or other cultural mediation, - Is capable of working with this difference at least elementarily on the grounds of own experience, - Understands that the knowledge of natural science is a form of mediated experience originally based on 'the first person' experience and always refers to it - the student is able to develop other non-scientific concepts of nature, particularly based on reading selected literature and own experience gained during outdoor winter sojourns.
Prerequisites
To complete the course the students must be able and willing to problematize and critically reflect on adopted attitudes in terms of "nature" and themselves as a part thereof.
