Course content
Mental health - disease, topic of normality, deprivation, children's neurotization, school disorders, stress and its influence on the psyche. Classification of basic pathological phenomenons, their occurrence and impact on the school atmosphere.

Learning outcomes
After passing this subject, students should be able to define the issues of psychopathology and have a good understanding of what are the most frequently occurring psychopathological symptoms today, symptoms which they might encounter among children or even their parents during their own educational work. Topics : - The subject of psychopathology, its relationship to other disciplines, the definition of normality - Cognition, memory, feelings, cogitation disorders - Mental deprivation, the mental needs of children, external and internal conditions of deprivation, symptoms, types of deprivation - Possibilities for remedying deprivation - surrogate family care - Intellectual defects in children (primary and secondary defects of intellectual abilities, a summary, the basic terms) - The hyperactivity syndrome ADHD (previously known as LMD), the characteristics, causes, symptoms, possible remedies, approaches toward children with ADHD - Neurotic symptoms dependent on age - Seizure disorders - epilepsy, temperamental particularities - Particularities in the Roma minority - Behavioural disorders - Symptoms of substance addiction- drug addiction in youths - Maltreated and abused children - Anorexia nervosa, bulimia - Stress and its symptoms, mental health, relaxation - Issues of the physically and sensory handicapped
Students will be eligible explanations of terms and definitions from the field of psychology

Basic knowledge of psychology

Literature study, active participation in seminars, working up tasks according to teacher's requirements.
