Course content
1. Motion system, muscles, principle of muscle contraction 2. Metabolism of bones 3. Nervous system, neuromuscular transmission, motor unit, movement control 4. Respiratory system 5. Physiology of the heart (heart revolution, control, etc.) 6. Physiology of the vascular system 7. Body fluids 8. Thermoregulation 9. Digestive system (digestion and absorption of essential nutrients) 10. Nutrition (saccharides, lipids, proteins, vitamins, mineral substances and trace elements) 11. Sensory systems (sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste, vestibular organ and internal sensation) 12. Reaction of organism to physical load. 13. Adaptation of organism to physical load. 14. Fatigue and regeneration. 15. Testing of physical fitness: indications and contraindications, classification of load tests, laboratory ergometers. Simple functional examination of physical fitness. Field tests. 16. Laboratory examination of physical fitness: CHR-test, index W 170, maximum load tests, monitored parameters, determination of AnP (ventilation threshold). 17. Doping in sport.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce to the students the function and control of various systems of the human body. Emphasis is put particularly on the transport systems and activity of the muscular system. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
Upon completion of the course the student: 1) Is able to describe the activity of the cardiopulmonary system, 2) Knows the principle of neuromuscular transmission, muscle contraction and movement control, 3) Knows basic physiological activities in the organism during physical load, knows the principles of adaptation, 4) Knows basic methods of testing the performance of the cardiovascular system.
Prerequisites
A prerequisite for completing the course is secondary school knowledge of human biology and basic knowledge of organic chemistry and physics. A prerequisite is completion of the previous course KPK/FYZF1.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Oral exam, Written exam

Active participation in classes. At the end of the course the students take a comprehensive exam preceded by a test. The exam also covers the previous course KPK/FYZF1.
