Course content
Characteristics and the objective of personal assistance and the principles of personal assistance. Types of personal assistance. The subjects and objects of personal assistance. Specifics of working with individual clients according to the type of their impairment.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)
  • Homework for Teaching - 25 hours per semester
  • Attendace - 40 hours per semester
  • Preparation for the Exam - 30 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Students are acquainted with new trends in assistantschip, its relation to other means of social work, the personality of an assistant, forms of assistance for various groups of population.
Students are able to understand the typology of the services provided under personal assistance, know the requirements for the exercise of personal assistance.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of special education , developmental psychology and social work methods

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance

After completing the course, students should be able to: define and interpret the possibilities of helping people with a medical impairment in their domestic environment, define, interpret and reason principles of personal assistance, which results from the idea of client's independent life (outside an institution), describe types of personal assistance, types of personalities for a personal assistant and the requirements for his/her character trades, describe the types of clients for personal assistance and the specifics of working with clients, according to the type of their impairment, apply principles of personal assistance with respect for the type of client.
