Course content
Lectures represent the phonetics and phonology as one of the basic linguistic disciplines. The seminar focuses on practical issues, ie. to practice phonetic phenomena. Introduction to phonetics and phonology Classifikation of sounds (vocals, consonants, diphthongs) a formation of speech Prosodic means - accent, intonation, rhythm Phonetical transcription Assimilation Practicing of phonetic phenomena

Learning outcomes

Student will be able to explain the basic phonetic and phonological terms. He will be able to describe how to create speech and how to pronounce individual sounds. Student understands the principles of assimilation and suprasegmental elements. Student can handle the practical aspects of phonetics and phonology, ie. correct pronunciation and phonetic transcription.

Mark, Oral exam, Written exam, Analysis of linguistic

Active participation in class. Elaboration of given tasks. 80% presence in seminars. Completion of test (70% = passing).
