Course content
Lectures deal with key art and aesthetic categories . Special attention is paid to key theories of Social Sciences and Cultural Studies. Topics covered:: 1. Definition of Art Studies 2. What is science? 3. Definition of aesthetic function 4. Definition of art? 5. The issue of artwork 6. Art criticism 7. The category of taste 8. What is culture? 9. Brief survey of art theories . 10. Introduction to mass culture 11. Introduction to popular music 12. What is postmodern culture?

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook)

Learning outcomes
The purpose of this course is to convey a unified perspective on aesthetics in art, common problems of particular fields of art studies and show the changing interrelations between different arts, especially the relation between art and society.
Knowledge of the key categories of Art Studies, Aesthetics and Social Scienses. Students will be able to apply their theoretical knowledge of the methodology of Art Studies in the first individual seminar papers in the Art Studies Proseminar and consequently in the courses on the individual stages of the history and theory of arts.

Passing of the sub-tests and final exam and devising the following works: -an extract from the academic studies -a review on the implementation of a work of art
