Course content
The criteria of a written text. Standard page, bibliographic citation, references and footnotes, the principles of computer typography, the language of specialised texts. The preparation for a written work. The collection of information from literature and sources, the work with catalogues (mainly with RILM). The specification of the aim hypothese of the work, the outline of the work, thesis, abstract, excerpt, notes, annotation, resumé. The structure of the work. Lists of literature and sources, indexes, attachments. The principles of writing a review of an art work or performance.

Learning outcomes
The proseminar relates to Introduction to Musicology course. It covers the practical aspects of musicological work (essay, recherché, annotation, conspectus, report, review, article, discussion, etc.)
Acquired knowledge: The student: - will know the representative titles of Czech music science; - will have a command of the principles of a written specialised text and scientific discussion. Acquired skills: The student will be able to: - write a paper on a specialised publication, - write a review of a music or opera production, - elaborate a dictionary entry and sleeve note of the recording of a music work. Acquired qualifications: The student will be able to use acquired knowledge and skills in future written seminar works or in their dissertation.

Prior to commencing contact education, the student is required to study: propedeutical script Úvod do studia hudební vědy by I. Poledňák and J. Fukač and methodical guide by dr. Stratilková Průvodce ke studiu Úvodu do studia hudební vědy autorů I. Poledňáka a J. Fukače.
