Course content
|
Criteria of the written text. A standard page, citation of bibliography, references and footnotes, the principles of computer typography, the language of academic papers. Preparation for the written paper. Gathering of the information from literature and other sources, consulting catalogs (especially RILM). Defining the objectives and hypotheses, the thesis outline, the abstract, excerpts, notes, annotations and a resume. The work structure. A list of literature and sources, indexes, appendixes. The principles of writing a review on a work of art or a performance.

Learning outcomes
|
This introductory seminar refers to the course Introduction to Musicology. It covers practical aspects of musicological work (essay, research paper, annotation, summary, report, review, article and others).
Students will be familiar with the representative titles of Czech music studies. They will acquire knowledge of the professional writing skills principles and the scientific discussion principles.
