Course content
T1. Management, Culture - the definition of basic concepts 2. Planning - the character and meaning of planning, basic components of planning, types of plans, SWOT analysis, the specification of aims and priorities 3. Organising - the process of organising, organisation structure, system OSCAR 4. Leadership - basic concepts, theory of motivation of professional behaviour, leadership style 5. Controlling - basic categories of a control process, phases of the control process, control processes, principles of an effective control 6. Strategic Planning in Music Art - the framework for the creation of a strategy, the formulation of a message, an analysis of background, strategies 7. The Structure and Functioning of Musical Life I - media, music publishing houses, gramophone companies, agencies 8. The Structure and Functioning of Musical Life II - live music performance, music education, local and regional culture 9. Marketing I - marketing research, the segmentation of the market, main target groups and their needs, a marketing information system 10. Marketing II - marketing communication, logo and corporate identity, corporate design, public relations, advertising, marketing mix, marketing plan 11. Learning outcomes
The objective: To introduce fundamental terminology relating to the field, present the functions of management and provide an overview of the structure and function of music life with emphasis on the Czech environment. These objectives will be met through the use of practical examples, explanation of terms and processes covering management, marketing, copyright and funding of cultural institutions and projects.
- the student knows basic concepts and processes of music management, marketing, and copyright - the student is familiar with the structure and functioning of the music life in the Czech Republic - the student is able to create a marketing plan of a music art project - the student is able to write a grant application aimed at the sphere of musical art - the student can formulate the vision, missions, and aims of various types of musical institutions - the student is able to think about the issues of management of musical institutions in a context of the contemporary music life
