Course content
1. Functions of music in everyday life - introduction 2. Research into music in everyday life 3. Background music in the workplace 4. Background music in mental tasks 5. Background music in car driving 6. Situational factors of music preferences 7. Music in commercial environments 8. Music and advertisment 9. Music and subcultures 10. Music and problem behaviour 11. Music and health, music therapy

Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming)

Learning outcomes
The course introduces into psychological aspects of music and into place of music within various situations of everyday life.
Students will gain an overview of the mental phenomena accompanying music activities in everyday life; they will familiarize themselves with the methods of knowledge acquisition of music psychology phenomena. Students will learn mainly up-to-date topics and approaches.
Prerequisites
Students should appreciate music and be interested ind its psychological power.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Seminar Work

Sufficient and active participation in class (max. of 3 absences), a seminar paper about an academic article (from a published empirical research), sufficient knowledge of the issues covered in class and in the basic literature.
