Course content
The course covers the following themes: - the mathematical preparation of teachers of pupils with special needs (terminology, recommended books), - the specifics of teaching mathematics to pupils with mild mental disabilities (characteristics projected into the teaching of mathematics, suitable teaching aids, textbooks, recommended policy), - the specifics of teaching mathematics to pupils with sensory disabilities (suitable aids, textbooks, recommended policy), - the specifics of teaching mathematics to pupils with learning disabilities in mathematics - especially dyscalculia (manifestations of particular learning disabilities in mathematics, suitable teaching aids, recommended policy).

Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)
  • Attendace - 26 hours per semester
  • Semestral Work - 6 hours per semester
  • Homework for Teaching - 6 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Course provides students with special aproaches to mathematical education of pupils with special needs, which is provided through individual integration in primary schools. Emphasis is placed on linking theoretical knowledge with practical outcomes in the teaching of mathematics.
The knowledge gained in the MPVSP course of study is a prerequisite to successful studies in other subjects and shall be applied in the students´ teaching practice.
Prerequisites
Successful completion of the course are basic mathematical and didactic skills acquired in the previous study.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Seminar Work

Active participation in seminars. The students are obliged to write a seminar paper on one of the themes listed above, and to create a teaching aid or a set of worksheets, suitable for teaching mathematics to pupils with special needs.
