Course content
Anthropological presumptions of celebration; symbolicity of human life and action; theory of symbol and symbolic action; typical elements of celebrating - word, song, dance, gestics, clothes and masks, ritualization, assembly, common eating and drinking; conditionality between culture and the mode of celebration, celebration in selected cultures; time and celebration; space for celebration and its types: sacral, prophane, specifics of Christian liturgical space; celebration in European cultural-historical context, anthropocentrization and laicity of celebration since modern period, creation of paralel celebrations within atheistic and anti-Christian ideologies, the possibilities for celebration in multicultural and post-modern society.

Learning outcomes
The aim of subject is to introduce into basic givenesses of human existence which make possible a celebration and to show how they are utilised in single celebrations within selected cultures.
The subject will make possible the understanding of fundaments of symbolic action, the orientation into basic types of celebration and the transitional rituals, and the analyzing of selected celebration within folk-customs.
Prerequisites
Readiness to deeper understanding the human action and the culture.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Analysis of Creative works (Music, Pictorial,Literary)

The achieving of required knowledges proved by colloqium.
