Course content
Place of Philosophy of education in the system of pedagogical sciences, its subject, aims and methods of study. Basic concepts of philosophy of education. Dynamism and transcendence of man in the context of education. Historical view of the philosophy of education. Metaphysical, anthropological, gnoseological and ethical bases for pedagogical views and systems in the history of European and American pedagogy from ancient times to the present.

Learning outcomes
Students will learn basis of education from the perspective of basic philosophical movements developed during history. They will be able to critically judge philosophical concepts and the following pedagogical concepts, especially philosophical concepts of man and selected problems of gnoseology and ethics.
Independent assessment of the consequences of significant philosophical approcaches focused on conception of human being with essencial charakteristics for education. Competence of educational objectives providing and critical exploring.

Requirements for completing the course: 1. Active participation of students in seminars, working out of assigned tasks. 2. Zero absence on seminars, eventuell absence documented by a relevant document from competent institutions (doctor, office, etc.). Students with an individual study plan attend seminars with 1/3 participation. 3. During the semester, students will process assigned topics and present them in the form of reports and subsequent discussions at seminars. The prepared reports will be uploaded to the Moodle system within two days of the presentation. 4. Students will continuously read the assigned literature. At the final colloquium, they will present their theoretical knowledge (corresponding to the syllabus and lectures) on the two questions that they have chosen. At the colloquium, they will also present their perception of the book they read in the context of the philosophy of education. Part of the colloquium is a joint discussion. The prepared reports will be uploaded to the Moodle system within two days of the colloquium. Recommended literature for study, study support, assignments for seminars and sets of questions for preparation for the colloquium are published in the Moodle system before the start of the summer semester. Students with specific educational needs will have course completion requirements adapted to their type of disability. The modification of the requirements may include an extension of time for written tests and papers, alteration of the point assessment in written papers, or changes to the classroom environment and necessary study aids.
