Course content
After completing this course the students will be able to deepen their knowledge of the history of the development contemporary concept of social pedagogy. They will acquire knowledge about the most recent developments in this discipline in Germany, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, and France, and others. The students will also gain awareness about the specifics of working with target groups of social education in those countries, and about successful projects that have been implemented. Topics: 1. The issue of defining social pedagogy in the European context. 2. Development and current state of social pedagogy in German-speaking countries (in Germany and Austria). 3. Development and current state of social pedagogy in Poland. 4. Development and current state of social pedagogy in Slovakia. 5. Development and current state of social pedagogy in Anglo-Saxon countries (focused mainly on Great Britain). 6. Development and current state of social pedagogy in Scandinavia (including Finland). 7. Development and current state of social pedagogy in Spain and Latin America. 8. Current development of social pedagogy in France. 9. Social pedagogy as a tool for solving various issue due to globalization - examples of successful projects and approaches.

Learning outcomes
The aim is to gain: - Knowledge of the specifics of the contemporary concept of social pedagogy in other countries - Knowledge of the common features of social pedagogy and their understanding across different countries - Ability to compare the concept of social pedagogy in different countries with the development in the Czech Republic - Knowledge of the projects that have been successfully applied in practice with the target group of social education abroad Social pedagogy is currently a dynamically developing science with its own traditions. Its position among scientific disciplines and its definition in relation to social work varies depending on the national specificities of different countries. In order to understand the current position of social pedagogy in the Czech Republic, it is also necessary to know the specifics of social pedagogy not only in the neighbouring EU countries, to understand them and to trace the common features that unite this discipline across different countries. After completing this course, the student will be able to build on the knowledge of the history of the development of social pedagogy and the current concept by acquiring knowledge of the most recent development of this discipline in e.g. Germany, Poland, but also Sweden, Denmark and France, etc. At the same time, they will gain an understanding of the specifics of working with target groups of social pedagogy in the above mentioned countries and successful projects that have been implemented.
Student: - will gain more profound knowledge of social pedagogy, its theory and practice abroad - will gain extented theoretical knowledge for the practice of social pedagogue - will be able to compare the state and development of social pedagogy in other (mainly European) countries with the state and development of social pedagogy in Czech Republic

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

During the discussion, students will be able to characterize the specifics of social pedagogy in a selected country, they will also give examples of successful projects that have been implemented successfully in that specific country in the field of social pedagogy.
