Course content
Free time (both in terms of time free from duties and in terms of leisure as a category with a specific social meaning) is an important component of both the personal and social life of an individual. For this reason, the social educator should be equipped with the necessary knowledge of the importance of free and leisure time for the life of individuals from different social, age and other groups, as well as knowledge of the possibilities of approaching free and leisure time in educational practice. Students will gain knowledge from both scientific literature and various sources, including data from qualitative interviews. The course is divided into the following parts: - general introduction to sociology of education - time in social context - multi-meaning concept - empty time and time filled with activity - free time x duty (study, work, other) There is a study support entitled "Sociology of education and leisure time" in the Edis system.

Learning outcomes
- acquaintance with sociological view of education with respect to free time and leisure within it; - deepening the theoretical background of social pedagogy in the area of free time and leisure and its importance for the development of personality and social relations; - interdisciplinary context; - anchoring skills for socio-educational work in leisure time into a theoretical framework
You will acquire: - general insight into the sociology of education with special regard to leisure time; - a deeper understanding of the role of leisure (in different meanings of the term) in the life of an individual and a group; - ability to combine theoretical knowledge and practical skills in socio-educational leisure activities

- regular fulfillment of assigned tasks - conducting and analyzing a qualitative interview according to instruction - active participation in seminars
