Course content
Seminars will be focused on editing practice of early modern diplomatic and codicological texts, emphasis will be on principles used in the most important editions of Czech provenience (Czech diets, Berní rula, Tehresian land registry, Documenta Bohemica bellum tricennale illustrantia, Chronicle of Hájek, Acts of the Unity of the Brethen, Register of the people according to their faith from 1651, Epistulae et acta nuntiorum apostolicorum apud imperatorem, Acta Sacrae congregationis de propaganda fide res gestas Bohemicas illustrantia). Practical introduction with different editing principles will be followed with work on edition of early modern text. This will include texts in Latin, German and Czech based on language preferences of students, emphasis will be especially on Czech early modern texts.

Learning outcomes
Aim of the course is to teach students fundamental editions of early modern primary sources of Czech provenience so they will be able to use maximum information from those editions. Familiarization with editions of diplomatic and codicological material character should be inspiration for choosing its own editing principles for publishing of still unpublished early modern primary source which will be the main intention of the course.
Student is able to work with fundamental editions of medieval diplomatic and codicological primary sources of Czech provenience. Student will show the ability to orient in different editions, to find answers on given questions and be able to explain editing principles. Improvement of palaeographical knowledge of reading Latin, German and Latin early modern texts. Student is able to prepare edition of unpublished early modern text including footnotes.
Prerequisites
Palaeographical experience of level of completion of course Palaeography Early Modern Period. Knowledge of basics of Latin and German.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Seminar Work

Attendance at least 90% including doing assessments. Handing in edition of early modetnl primary source in agreed length.
