Course content
Content: Lecture topics: 1. History of archiving documents in abroad. 2. Study of archival studies in ČR and abroad. 3. Archive studies in Slovakia - history, legislative, structure. 4. Archive studies in Poland - history, legislative, structure. 5. Archive studies in Germany - history, legislative, structure. 6. Archive studies in Austria - history, legislative, structure. 7. Archive studies in Hungary - history, legislative, structure. 8. Archive studies in France - history, legislative, structure. 9. Archive studies in Great Britain - history, legislative, structure. 10. Archive studies in Russia - history, legislative, structure. 11. Archive studies in other countries - history, legislative, structure. 12. International archive studies and science, joint projects. 13. Future of archive studies and science. Seminars will cover topics based on recommended literature and sources connected to the archive institutions, archive funds, particular aspects of archive work. Part of the seminar will be a presentation from stated topics and discussion.

Learning outcomes
Main aim of the course is 1) to introduce to general terms of archive studies, following the historical development of the most important offices of important state and non-state originators and their care of incoming and produced documents, their archiving. 2) To learn about the development of individual archive institutions from humble beginnings to the present. It will also focus on education of archive experts from 18th century to the present at the universities and at other institutions home and abroad. 3) Mentioning of elemental norms building and developing the archive network in the Czech republic.
Students will deepen knowledge from the first semester about the history and present of foreign archive studied and science. During the seminars student will gain an overview about foreign archive systems, international archive cooperation and internships and will get familiar with Czech and also international archive problems.
Prerequisites
No specific prerequisites. Presumed interest of the student about contemporary events and development in archive studies.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Oral exam, Student performance, Seminar Work

Attendance at least 90%. Seminar work. Written test. Oral exam.
