Course content
The attention is paid to the reflection of anti-Habsburg rising in the historiography of this period, contemporary historiography and art. The course also covers issues like the changes in interpretations of the history after the Battle of White mountain and the myths which are presented in the awareness of historians and non-historians. Seminars are based on the analysis of historical texts (from 17th to 21st century) that will be given into a context of author´s life and work as well as general connection with early modern and modern historiography, and on the interpretation of works of art inspirated by white mountain events. Learning outcomes
The attention is paid to the reflection of anti-Habsburg rising in the historiography of this period, contemporary historiography and art. The course also covers issues like the changes in interpretations of the history after the Battle of White mountain and the myths which are presented in the awareness of historians and non-historians. Seminars are based on the analysis of historical texts (from 17th to 21st century) that will be given into a context of author´s life and work as well as general connections with early modern and modern historiography, and on the interpretation of works of art (fiction, fine arts, music). The course will be concluded by a trip to White Mountain. The aim of the course: The development of critical thinking when analysing sources, studying literature and then discussing, knowledge of old and modern historiography. HF
Students will be familiar with the different views of the historic phenomenon "White mountain". HF
